Classic BBQ Beans

Smokey and sweet, an essential side to any BBQ meal

Not only is this recipe delicious, but it is also incredibly cost-effective by using dried beans and soaking them overnight. You'll never go back to canned beans after you try these.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Blue Bully BBQ Sauce

  • 1 Cup Blue Bully BBQ Rub 

  • 3 Cups Dried Beans
    (Pinto, Black, Kidney choose your favorite or explore a mix) 

  • 4 Strips Bacon 

  • 1 Onion (Diced)

  • 2 Bay Leaves

  • 1-3 Jalapeños (Diced) ​

  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar 

  • 1/2 Cup Honey 

  • 1/4 Cup Mustard 

  • 1 Head Garlic (Peeled and Chopped)

  • 1/2 Cup Worcestershire Sauce

  • 2 Cups Water 

  • 2-3 Cups Chicken Stock 

Directions:

  1. Place beans in a bowl and fill with enough water to cover by 2 inches. Let soak overnight.
     

  2. Sauté onions, bacon, and Peppers in a large pot until soft about 10 minutes. Add Garlic, cook for 2 minutes.  
     

  3. Drain beans. Add to pot with water, stock and bay leaves. Bring to boil, then reduce to simmer for 1 hour.
     

  4. Add rub, sugar, honey, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce to taste. Cover, Simmer on low for 4 hours, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender and sauce is thickened. Season with salt and serve.
